Your Instructor is a self employed franchisee of 'The Driving Academy' and is bound by a professional code of conduct published and enforced by Driving Standards Agency (DSA). The Instructor will at all times, to the best of their ability, endeavour to teach you correct driving skills according to DSA's recommended syllabus. The contract for driving tuition is solely between you and Your Instructor. You and your instructor are responsible for agreeing all matters relating to the timing, location and duration of individual lessons. You must notify your instructor of any matters which affect your ability or entitlement to having driving tuition, for example, any lack, or loss, of a valid provisional license, any illness or prescribed drugs which may affect your driving ability. If your instructor no longer works with The Driving Academy you will be allocated a new instructor. The Instructor Should:
- Be Polite and Reliable.
- Have a modern, clean car fitted with duel controls.
- Ring you if they are running more than 15 minutes late.
- Have the the right to cancel your lesson at short notice due to weather, health or car related issues.
- If they feel it necessary, have the right to withdraw the use of their vehicle for tests.
- Not have to tolerate abusive language or behaviour towards them and will terminate the lesson immediately if this happens. You will still be charged for the lesson.
- Have a fully insured car for driving tuition. Instructors will not smoke in the car, nor will they use your lesson time for any other form of business, personal or otherwise
Monies The instructor will safeguard and account for any monies paid in advance by the pupil and will make details available on request. 'The Driving Academy' acts as agents for it's franchised instructors and is not responsible for money paid or booking dates and times. Price Changes The price of lessons which have not been pre-paid as part of a block booking may be changed at any time. You will always receive prior notice of such changes. The Student Should:
- Arrive to the lesson on time.
- Wear suitable footwear.
- Pay the instructor at the beginning of the lesson, unless pre-arranged with the instructor.
- Give 48 Hours notice to cancel or postpone a lesson, if this is not possible and the lesson cannot be rearranged to a mutual acceptable time within 7 days of the cancelled lesson, at the total discretion of the instructor, the full training fee for the period in question may be lost or charged.
- Look out for your instructor. He/She will on wait at the agreed pick up point for 10 minutes.
- Give 14 days notice to cancel or change an intensive course. Failure to give this notice could result in you losing the full course fee.
- Provide a note from the doctor or hospital if you need to cancel a lesson due to ill health.
- Make contact with the instructor to rebook lessons within to months of a cancelled lesson. Failure to do this may result in you losing any fees pre-paid to the instrutor.
- Alcohol and Drugs will not be tolerated. If the instructor suspects that you have been drinking alcohol or taking drugs prior to the lesson you will be charged the full price and the lesson terminated immediately.
Tests If a pupil has applied for a driving test or the instructor has applied for a test on their behalf, and does not keep up to date with their lessons prior to test, or if in the opinion of the instructor, the pupil is not safe to proceed with the test, the instructor reserves the right to refuse the use of the tuition vehicle for the test. The Instructor will endeavour to inform the pupil of this intention in good enough time for the test to be rescheduled without loss of test fee. If the pupil decides to go ahead with the test and fails the driving test, the instructor will not be liable for any loss of test fees. No responsibility can be taken for tests cancelled by the DSA due to adverse weather or any other reason nor can your instructor take responsibility for you losing your documentation or failing an eyesight test. Your instructor will take responsibility for lost test fees if the test is cancelled due to the condition of the vehicle. Complaints Complaints must be made in the first instance to the instructor concerned. If you are not able to resolve the matter with the instructor, you may telephone the office on 01793 704741. Complaints in writing will only be considered if they are received within 21 days of the incident.
